National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA)

Rowland House is a principal member of NIBA
- • NIBA represents the vast majority of insurance brokers in Australia - about 2600 individual intermediaries from around 500 separate broking companies, operating from over 800 locations nationwide.
- • NIBA was established in 1982, bringing together the interests of large corporate brokers and smaller brokerages located in cities and towns across Australia.
- • NIBA brokers are responsible for almost 90% of all commercial insurance transacted in Australia.
- • Insurance brokers handle around $10 billion in premiums annually and place around half of Australia's total insurance business.
- • Professionalism is a central plank in NIBA's development strategy for members. The Qualified Practising Insurance Broker (QPIB) designation is only earned by members who demonstrate high standards of professional and technical competence. Members maintain their QPIB qualification by undergoing continuing professional development.
- • NIBA College of Insurance & Risk Professionals - a subsidiary organisation of NIBA offers educational services, including distance learning and professional certification. NIBA College provides education and training developed by brokers for brokers.
- • NIBA provides strong representation of members' interests at State and Federal Government levels.
- • NIBA is a voice to the insurance-buying public to promote the many ways in which brokers add value.
- • All NIBA brokers subscribe to the Insurance Brokers Code of Practice that sets out standards of service and behaviour that must be met. All members must also abide by the NIBA Code of Conduct.
- • NIBA brokers also belong to an independent external complaints facility - Insurance Brokers Disputes Ltd.
